Five on Friday

Five little things.

1.  In my clearing out and sorting out I took out some pictures from behind and underneath a chest of drawers.  We took them down from the living/dining room when we redecorated.  They have been waiting for a long time now to be rehung.  I told hubby that they would be living at the top of the stairs on the floor until they were hung (a nice inconvenient place!).  It took a couple of days, and then, miraculously, up they went.  What do you think?

2.  The summer hats have gone away.  I love to have these hanging on the coat rack in the hallway in the summertime.  I think that it looks very summery and just right for the season.  Sadly though this year I haven't worn my hats at all.  In fact, I didn't take the winter coats off the coat rack either.  Not that we have worn them over the summer, but it was never hot enough for long enough to encourage me to move them.

3.  Don't tell anyone.  These are Christmas presents, bought in a sale.  Shhhhh!!!!

4.  This is for cleaning your car windows.  In theory.  It cleans the windows an awful lot better than the stuff that you are "supposed" to use.  It also does a great job on mirrors.

5.  The grass is growing back very nicely after the skip sat here for quite a few weeks.  It is amazing how grass grows back, don't you think.

Well, there we are.  Five little things.  Just life!

I hope that you all have a great weekend, especially those celebrating the Labor Day weekend.  We had our long weekend last weekend in England.  It rained on the holiday Monday!  I hope that your day is dry.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.

Amy

  1. Lovely pictures, how nice to have them out again. I need to swap the hats over as well, I have a basket in the hall (called The Hat Basket as it happens) and in winter I put woolly hats and gloves in there. The time is no doubt coming. The grass should be perking up after all this rain we've had. I hope you have a good weekend too, CJ xx

  7. I love those top 2 pictures. :)
I've just sorted my winter hats and scarves - Matt has rugby at the weekend, and I wouldn't be surprised if I need a scarf. I know the weather men have said it will be warmer, but they said today was going to be dry and sunny, and it certainly isn't!! Have a great weekend. x

  12. I like the picture of poppies. I bought a pack of Christmas cards from the RSPB shop at Lake Vyrnwy when we were in Wales recently - mainly because they had Hares on:)

  13. I loved reading your five things, Amy! I do admire you getting well prepared with your Christmas present buying....I am not good at doing that but hope to get better at it! Yes, it is amazing how the grass begins to green up again before your very eyes isn't it?
    Wishing you a happy weekend.

  14. Putting the pictures in the way at the top of the stairs - that made me smile! Have to admit that it's more often the other way round in my house, it's me, not hubby that takes ages to get round to do a job like that!! X

  15. I've bought a few Christmas gifts and tucked them away too. Feels good!
Your pictures look nice. I really like the one of the poppies!

  16. You are much better about pictures than we are. After living here a year we only have 3 hung on the wall. I'm sorry you had rain on your bank holiday, but to be honest I'm actually hoping for rain over our Labour Day weekend. It's been a long, hot summer and I would like a break from watering. I might use your Five on Friday theme for my blog post today. I hope you don't mind!

  18. Enjoyed your five things Amy, I love the poppy picture I want one for above my fire place and have been looking for years I will know it's the right one when I see it. I have just bought 4 Christmas pressys today just silly things for my boys they will either laugh or throw them at me haha. Yes grass is amazing really it puts up with so much. Goodbye hats! such a shame, I haven't warn so many of my summer clothes but then I didn't last year either, or the summer before or....have a great weekend. xxxxxx

  19. Love those top two pictures and you've reminded me that I have some to hang (they too have been waiting a while). Well done for starting the Christmas shopping, I'm always reluctant to start early then regret it later when time starts to run out. Your grass seems to have sprung back nicely so the rain we've had wasn't all bad (not sure everyone would agree, but it's been good for my garden). Your ripple blanket in your previous post looks lovely Amy and I like how you've put a straight edge to start - looking forward to seeing the finished blanket. Have a great weekend.

  20. I'll have to try your trick to get some pictures which I bought on holiday hung. I've bought frames for them, they're just waiting to go up now.

  21. We are in our last fe days in Florida. Still very hot here, it's hard to believe that Autumn is round the corner, at home anyway. I love those timings. Brilliant presents!

  22. I'm glad that grass does grow back so quickly, as we have mole hills all over ours. We stamp them down (looks like we're doing a little dance on the garden!), and then the grass grows over them, and then the moles make more hills, and then ..... well you get the picture! Lovely pictures - worth hanging up, at last! xCathy

  23. I enjoyed your five things. My grass is also growing back after having the pool sitting on it for a month. It's not quite there yet, but I'm sure it will be completely green again soon.

I love your idea of having the summer hats hanging up :)

  24. My daughter bought a couple of Christmas presents this week too - she's never usually this organised, I don't know what's got into her! The watercolour landscapes are lovely. x

  26. I love your pictures, Amy. I am going to our local fire station's open day with the boys tomorrow, and I know that a very talented friend is selling her wares. They will be going in my Christmas drawer. I buy throughout the year. It's easier. And I love doing it too! Have a great weekend Amy.

  28. Will you think I'm weird if I say that I think grass is amazing, period. It grows all year and quickly colonises vacant land, and it is a food stuff for many creatures,

I need to track down some of that glass cleaner ... the one I have struggles with the dog nose marks on the French windows.

  29. I just left you a long comment which seems to have disappeared on route. Apologies if you now get two.

It contained my thoughts on the amazingness, of grass but this time I'll settle for saying I need some of that Auto Glym ... just the thing for whippet nose marks on the French doors ;)

  30. I am loving those framed paintings you have there Amy! They are gorgeous! And your hat collection is stunning! Ha....and look at you go with those tins! Happy weekend to you friend! Sending you hugs! Nicole xoxo

  31. I love the framed prints, all of them. Wish I could find some of those in my stash of trash:)

  32. I loved that post just about life in general. The lawn bit did catch my attention though, as with our droughts in Oz, I never waste water on lawns and the first good rain always brings them back to life. (also weeds). Have a great weekend and take care.

  33. I also bought a Christmas present but I haven't told anyone about that yet!

  34. I do the same with Christmas presents, hee hee, it just has to be done! I was really organised this year and started Christmas shopping in January. I don't know what has gotten into me, but I have just been buying things throughout the year. I think I am just sick of leaving everything to the last minute! I love your pictures, they look ace. And yes, grass is amazing, it just bounces back so quickly (although our rabbits are determined to get rid of it all!)
